Full Time: 40 hours per week
Performs a variety of clerical duties for the laboratory staff, provides phlebotomy services for the lab and nursing. Processes specimens for testing and dispatch. Performs all tests commonly performed in a hospital laboratory with the supervision of the staff Medical Technologist and Laboratory Manager. Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots equipment. Performs quality control.
The MT performs routine and specialized clinical lab tests for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by physicians. Uses judgement from educational background to give the physician information to diagnose and treat illnesses.
The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing, evaluating, and reporting of technical laboratory procedures on patient specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs multiple administrative functions in support of laboratory operations, or may function as a technical expert in a laboratory specialty area. Follows established procedures to ensure laboratory quality control and compliance with professional standards of practice.
